Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts on the latest designs, either at our in-person events or through the project survey, in February! The project team is working on refining the design and incorporating community feedback to the extent feasible. We completed our second focus group on February 22! A summary of the event and next steps can be found below.
This is a One Seattle effort to provide northwest Seattle with open space with public art and a new reservoir. Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is building a new drinking water reservoir. This new 21-million-gallon reservoir will replace the existing reservoir that is reaching the end of its service life. The new reservoir will be partially buried and contain the same amount of water as the existing one but with a smaller footprint. This creates more than six acres of new open space after the reservoir construction is complete in 2028-2029.

Project Description
Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is replacing the existing reservoir with a concrete tank that makes space for Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) to expand the park for the community. SPR is leading the park and open space design in coordination with SPU, the Office of Arts and Culture, and the Department of Neighborhoods. This project will incorporate elements of the existing park together with new recreation amenities, public art and a potential expansion of the P-Patch for the Bitter Lake neighborhood. We look forward to hearing your ideas!
