What is CARE?
The Community Assisted Response and Engagement Department (Seattle CARE Department) is home to the Seattle 9-1-1 Communications Center and provides diversified responses to public safety and public health incidents.
When you call 9-1-1 in Seattle for an emergency, The Seattle CARE Department is here to help 24-hours per day, 365 days per year, including for callers who need translation or those who are deaf or hard of hearing. The Seattle 9-1-1 Communications Center administers approximately 900,000 9-1-1 calls per year and coordinates the dispatch of police, fire, community crisis responders, and medical teams for emergency situations, as well as managing non-emergency lines.
