Lisa Herbold

Welcome! As the Councilmember from District 1, I represent the neighborhoods of West Seattle and South Park. I have lived in Highland Park since 2000. Over the course of my professional life I've worked on issues of access, fairness, and a commitment to a shared quality of life. I have helped craft and pass public policy that includes Paid Sick Leave, Secure Scheduling for retail and food service workers, legislation that prevents source of income discrimination against renters, $29 million housing bond for affordable housing, a police Observers' Bill of Rights, and a municipal Income Tax.

Each of these examples of model public policy is being replicated in jurisdictions across the country and they represent just a sample of the work I've done to help improve the lives of Seattle residents. There is much more to do.We face numerous challenges in Seattle and District 1, including: income inequality and affordability, managing growth and development, improving transportation and mobility, and ensuring justice and equality of opportunity. Now it's time for us to roll up our sleeves, get to work, and take action on these important issues. I am chair of the Public Safety & Human Services Committee. Additionally, I serve on other committees: Finance & Housing, Economic Development, Technology & City Light, Public Assets & Homelessness, and Transportation & Seattle Public Utilities.

Please get in touch to stay involved in our efforts towards a Seattle that works for everyone. I want to hear from you whether it's to support my efforts or to encourage me to change course. You can reach me either via phone or email.

I've worked on issues of access, fairness, and a commitment to a shared quality-of-life. I've helped craft and pass public policy that includes Paid Sick Leave for the 190,000 Seattle workers who didn't have it, a Rental Housing Inspection Program for 250,000 renter households, and an acclaimed criminal justice diversion program. Each of these examples of model public policy is being replicated in jurisdictions across the country, and are a few samples of the work I've done to help Seattle residents.
