Printed Prep Materials

If you are serious about becoming a Seattle Police Officer, we strongly recommend you attend a test prep workshop before taking the police exam.

These test prep workshops provide an in-depth overview of the testing and hiring process from start to finish.

  • Workshops are free.
  • All workshops are the same, you only need to attend one.
  • Workshops last approximately 2.5 hours.
  • Pre-registration is required.

You do NOT need to be signed up for a test to attend a workshop. lf you are interested in testing now or in the future and just want to learn more about the process, you are welcome to attend a workshop.

Physical Agility Prep

Please note: the order of the PAT when going through the Seattle Police Department's testing and hiring process varies from the order in which administered by the State Academy. 

Seattle PD will administer the PAT in the following order:

  1. Push-ups
  2. Sit-ups
  3. 300 Meter Sprint
  4. 1.5 Mile Run

There's a 10 minute break between the 300 Meter and 1.5 Mile Run  The State Academy will administer the PAT in the following order:

  1. 300 Meter Sprint
  2. Push-ups
  3. Sit-ups
  4. 1.5 Mile Run

The video below will demonstrate proper push-up and sit-up techniques that will be required of you to pass the physical ability test.
