T. T. Minor Playground Play Area Renovation

Updated: November 8, 2023

Fall 2023

Please join us on Saturday, November 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at the T.T. Minor play area.

We will have a presentation in the park to review the preferred playground design at T.T. Minor play area (1698 E Union Street, Seattle 98122).

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our meeting on October 18. We reviewed three project ideas and learned about community wishes for the future Play Area.

Approximately 20 adults and more kids joined the meeting enjoying tacos from Tacos Chukis and discussions about the play equipment and the adjacent field.

Of the three playground equipment options, “Option C”  was preferred.  This option was a little more “mod” than Options A and B; higher up, with shade structures. Play equipment is usually categorized for kids from 2-5 and 5-12., However, the 5-12 “Option C” had elements that could be fun for older kids including younger teens. Since the adjacent school is a high school, this was important. We heard support for any kind of bars that provided opportunities for pull-ups. While this is included in “Option C”,  SPR is exploring the possibility of adding a simple pull-up bar near the play area.

We also heard many suggestions about how to improve the use of the field.
