Dr. Blanche Lavizzo Park Play Area Renovation

Updated: September 25, 2023

Fall 2023

Thank you to everyone who participated in this renovation project's kick-off meeting and survey. Construction of a new play area at Dr. Blanche Lavizzo Park will begin Thursday, September 21 and run through early November 2023. The play area will be closed during this time.

Seattle Parks and Recreation(SPR), Seattle Conservation Corps and the volunteers from CarMax who will build out this project will work to minimize construction impacts on the park and neighborhood. Two play areas located close and available during this closure are Pratt Park at 201 20th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144, or the recently renovated Spruce Street Mini Park at 160 21st Ave, Seattle, WA 98122, about a 10-minute walk from Dr. Blanche Lavizzo Park.

Seattle Parks and Recreation is proud to partner on the Dr. Blanche Lavizzo Play Area Renovation project with KABOOM!, a non-profit organization that helps communities build playgrounds, The McKinney Center for Community & Economic Development, a community preservation and Development authority named in honor of the Rev. Dr. Samuel Berry McKinney, and Associated Recreation Council (ARC), a longtime SPR partner that offers a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes and activities.
