Dearborn Park Play Area Renovation

Summer 2020

Thank you all for attending the August 26 virtual meeting on the play area - Play Equipment Alternatives. We received input during the meeting through live polling and have a survey open until September 11 to allow for continued community input.  You can view the virtual meeting presentation material and summary below, and watch/listen to the meeting here. 

Comment on the three play equipment options will remain open until September 11, 2020. Please participate in the survey, or send your comments to Libby.Hudson@seattle.govOur project team will be reviewing the comments and developing a preferred schematic design for the play area. Watch this space for the schematic design to be posted for comment in early October.

The Real Estate Excise Tax fund provides $557,000 for planning, design, and construction of the project.

Project Description

This project replaces the play equipment with equipment that is accessible to children of all abilities. Additionally, site accessibility improvements that meet the standards from the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will be made.

During construction the contractor will need to close the play area portion of the park. Seattle Parks and Recreation and the contractor hired for the project will work to minimize impact to the neighborhood.
