The Office of Labor Standards (OLS) wants your input! Outreach and Education

The Office of Labor Standards (OLS) is partnering with community-based and business organizations to conduct and facilitate outreach, education, and technical assistance to workers and small businesses on Seattle’s labor standards.


The Labor Standards Community Outreach and Education Fund will foster collaboration between OLS and the community to develop awareness and understanding of worker rights, and facilitate resolution of labor standards violations. Total contract funds equal $3.3 million for 2017 and 2018, which has been awarded for a two-year contract cycle with the selected organizations.

The Labor Standards Business Outreach and Education Fund facilatates assistance to small businesses to increase compliance with Seattle’s labor standards. The fund emphasizes outreach to businesses owned by low-income and historically disenfranchised communities, who typically are not served by traditional outreach methods. Total contract funds equal $475 for 2017. In the fourth quarter of 2017, OLS issued a RFP for $1.4 million for a two-year contract cycle with the selected organizations from 2018-2019.

Assistance for Workers

Seattle's labor standards ordinances cover all employees working inside the city limits, regardless of employees’ immigration status or location of their employer. If your situation does not qualify for investigation by us, we will refer you to another agency for help.

Assistance for Employers

The Office of Labor Standards offers a range of resources to help employers to comply with Seattle labor laws, including free technical assistance, and group presentations.
