$20 Car Tab Rebate

In an effort to protect the health of our communities and service providers, there will be no-walk-in hours until further notice. Applications will be accepted via mail, but there is also a drop box outside the UDP/VLFR office where paperwork can be submitted.

This program is available to Seattle's households at or below 70% of the median State household income, who have cars registered in the City of Seattle, and have a car tab renewal date of June 1, 2015 or later. 

The legislation for the car tab increase to pay for improved transit service expires on December 31, 2020. The last day to submit a rebate request on 2020 car tab renewals is June 30, 2021. No Seattle vehicle license fee rebates will be issued on 2021 car tab renewals.

To demonstrate you are eligible for the rebate, the following information needs to be submitted: 

  • Proof that you are currently enrolled in one of the following programs:
    • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP);
    • Seattle Utility Discount Program (UDP)

  • OR, Proof that the total gross household income for ALL persons 18 years and older living in the house during the monthly period prior to applying is no higher than those found below, and, proof of payment of the $80 Vehicle License Fee:
