West Lake Union Improvement Project Crews Begin Outfall Work Next Week

Crews will be putting in pipe to begin the outfall work for the West Lake Union Improvement Project next week. There will be a total of four outfalls once the project is finished. The outfall locations will be Halladay, Crockett, Blaine and Galer streets. An outfall is the drainpipe located at the end of the drainage system that collects rainwater, treats it, and then discharges it into the lake.

Track and trestle removal will continue as well the week of February 25th.

Location/Work: Work will continue on the 2500 block of West Lake Avenue North, and end just south of Halladay Street for the track and trestle removal. Storm sewer construction will continue as well. The first outfall will be located at Halladay Street. Depending on time, work may begin on the second outfall next week, which is located at Crockett Street.

In addition, you will continue to see Seattle Public Utilities water crews working to renew the water services located inside the project area.

Time: Work crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There may be some weekend work.

Some General Impacts: Limited parking in the specific areas under construction; periodic limited access; lane closures and traffic flaggers on Westlake Avenue North; noise from large construction vehicles; increase in dust and mud during construction.

During construction, impacts to the surrounding community and thru traffic are to be expected. The City of Seattle requests patience and cooperation from travelers and residents. City departments will work with the community in efforts to minimize impacts and disturbances.

Construction for the West Lake Union Improvement project is expected to last approximately 12 months. Please note that due to the nature of construction, schedules are likely to change. City departments will keep the community informed of the most current schedule.
