Status in the Cedar

The pileated woodpecker is commonly seen in the watershed, and is known to breed here. Comprehensive surveys have not been conducted, so numbers of pileated woodpeckers using the watershed are unknown.

The three-toed woodpecker has not been documented in the watershed, although targeted surveys have not been conducted. If present, they would likely occur in subalpine or old-growth forest habitat at the high elevation eastern end of the watershed.
