Regional Status

Currently northern goshawk populations in Washington are not being monitored, so the regional status is unknown. They appear to have been largely extirpated from urban areas as well as from some areas that are moderately developed or intensively managed for timber on short rotations The number of historical nesting sites that have been lost due to conversion of old-growth forest to other uses is also unknown.
