Recycle at Your House
Recycling is good for the environment, and it’s the law—City ordinance bans recyclable paper, cardboard, glass and plastic bottles, and aluminum and tin cans from garbage containers.

Collection Schedule
Recycling is collected every other week, on the same day as your garbage. Collection is normal on all holidays except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Following each of those holidays, service will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week. To find out your collection day:
Keep Recycling Out of Garbage
Garbage containers that contain more than 10 percent of recyclables will not be emptied. Haulers will leave instructions to remove recyclables before the following week’s collection. Carefully follow the instructions on the tag to avoid an extra garbage charge.
Keep Garbage Out of Your Recycling
If garbage is found in your recycling you will get a warning. If it is excessively contaminated with garbage it will not get picked up.
Recycling Services Beyond the Curb
Some items that aren’t accepted in curbside household recycling can be recycled at Seattle’s Recycling & Disposal stations. This includes building materials and vehicle batteries and tires.
