Batteries
At your house or apartment
You can NOT recycle any type of batteries in your recycling container or dumpster. Throw household (alkaline) batteries away in the garbage. These batteries, including AA, C, D and 9v, no longer contain hazardous compounds and can be disposed of in the trash.
At the Recycling and Disposal Stations
You can recycle vehicle batteries at no charge.
You can NOT recycle other types of batteries. Throw household (alkaline) batteries away in the garbage.
At private companies
You can recycle rechargeable batteries (Ni-Cad, NMH) at most retail outlets where they were purchased. Recycle rechargeable batteries found in:
- • Cordless power tools
- • Cellular and cordless phones
- • Laptop computers
- • Camcorders
- • Digital cameras
- • Remote control toys
