Wood

Clean wood waste
These types of clean wood waste can be recycled for a fee at the Recycling and Disposal Stations:


  • • Cedar shingles: untreated, no tar paper.

  • • Pallets

  • • Lath (no plaster)


  • • Tree limbs, logs, stumps and untreated poles: less than 8 feet long and 8 inches in diameter.

  • • Unpainted plywood, oriented strandboard (OSB), and particleboard

  • • Untreated, unpainted lumber: nails and staples OK.
Wood treated as garbage
These types of wood are accepted as garbage for a fee at the Recycling and Disposal Stations:


  • • Painted wood.

  • • Wood treated with preservatives such as creosote, pentachlorophenol, copper napthenate, chromium arsenate compounds, or chlordane. Large loads of treated wood must be accompanied by a Waste Clearance Form from the Health Department. Call (206) 296-4633 for information.

  • • Logs and poles must not exceed 8 feet in length and 8 inches in diameter.

  • • Non-wood construction materials.
