Metal Barrels, Drums, Cans, and Tanks

Empty metal barrels and drums are accepted for recycling at the Recycling and Disposal Stations. Cut them in half.

Steel garbage cans can be recycled at no charge.

These items are not accepted at Recycling and Disposal Stations:

  • • Sealed drums

  • • Drums that held hazardous materials

  • • Tanks that have held flammable compressed gasses (oxygen, acetylene, propane) pose a fire hazard and must be disposed of as hazardous waste. Empty tanks (five gallons or less) are accepted at Household Hazardous Waste Facilities.

  • • Fuel or oil tanks. Check the Yellow Pages for "Tanks-Cleaning" or "Tanks-Removal".
