Dumpster Eligibility & Collection Set up

Eligibility
You can have detachable container (dumpster) service at any Seattle residence, but it is usually requested by multi-family residences (apartments and condominiums).

You must have hard all-weather surface and as near to level as possible from placement to collection point.

Commercial (business) garbage customers are provided garbage collection services separately from residential customers. Mixed-use buildings (commercial and residential) may qualify for an exception.

Collection set up
Call Solid Waste Customer Service to request dumpster service. Service is contracted for a minimum of 6 months with various sizes and frequencies of collection available. The building manager or owner will need to meet with a Seattle Public Utilities inspector to determine container size and location.

You will need to complete the Container Agreement Form and send it to the contractor who will collect your container. Seattle Public Utilities will return the form to you as your dumpster collection contract.
