Replace Lost or Damaged Garbage Cans

You can replace a missing or damaged garbage can online if you:

  • • live in a single-family residence
  • • subscribe to 96 gallons of garbage service or less
  • • do not receive utility rate-assistance
If you do not meet the criteria above, please call SPU Customer Service at (206) 684-3000 to request a replacement can.

You will need your current billing statement to request a replacement can online.

Missing garbage cans
  • • Place your garbage in a trash bag(s) or your own can(s) that are tied and/or secure
  • • Put your garbage out for collection at the normal pickup location.
  • • Allow 10 days for the delivery of your new can.
To avoid extra garbage fees, do not set out more garbage than the service level you subscribe to (12, 20, 32, 60 or 90 gallons.)

Damaged garbage cans
Damaged cans have:

  • • holes in the bottom of the can
  • • broken handles
  • • broken wheels that prevent the can from rolling or standing upright
Please continue to use the damaged can until your new one is delivered. Allow 10 days for the delivery of your new can.
