Long-Term Control Plan

Overview

In 2010, 190 million gallons of untreated sewage and stormwater flowed into our lakes, streams, and Puget Sound. Seattle Public Utilities is preparing a long-range plan that will create a comprehensive strategy to reduce these Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs). The plan will:

SPU is preparing a Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to identify potential impacts to people and the environment. Scoping was held to determine the range or “scope” of issues to study in the Programmatic EIS. Scoping included an official comment period from Sept. 26-Nov. 7, 2011. During scoping, SPU held a series of public meetings and accepted comments by mail and email. View the Final Scoping Report

The Sounding Board was formed to guide the development of the LTCP. Sounding Board members were recruited from throughout the city to provide a diverse set of perspectives. They consider input from their colleagues and neighbors, as well as staff recommendations, to provide constructive advice about important investment decisions.

The Sounding Board will continue its work until the LTCP is finalized, which is expected in 2012. Updates on that work will be featured on this page.
