Higher Than Expected Water Bill

If you have lived at the same address for longer than 1 year
You can compare your current water usage to your usage at the same time last year by using the chart on your bill. If your current usage is higher than last year, consult the list below to see why you may be using more water.

Common reasons for higher than expected bills
The 3 most common reasons for higher than expected bills are:

    1. A leak in the underground water line.
    2. A constantly running toilet.
    3. A dripping faucet.
You can reduce your water use by repairing these problems as soon as possible.

Other common reasons for your water usage to increase include:

  • • Washing outdoor walkways and driveways with a hose. To reduce water use, use a broom instead.
  • • Filling swimming pools.
  • • A faulty irrigation system.
  • • Watering new plants in your yard.
  • • More people living in your home.

For commercial customers
The most common cause of increased water use in commercial properties is a faulty valve in your water or cooling system.
