Moving: Change Your Account
If you are moving, you have 3 options to open and/ or close your account:
• Online
• SPU Customer Service, (206) 684-3000
• Walk In Service Center, Seattle Municipal Tower (formerly Key Tower), 700 5th Avenue, 27th floor in Downtown Seattle.
Before you start
Review the online process and gather the required information ahead of time. You will need:
• A meter reading
• The name and phone number of your landlord, if you are renting
• The name of the buyer if you have sold your property
• To check for a garbage can and see if it is the size you need
• To check for a recycling container and glass insert
• To decide if you want yard waste service
Fill out all required information. We cannot process applications that are not complete. You will be alerted that your application has been successfully submitted. Applications are usually processed within 3 business days.
Read the Common Questions and application thoroughly. If you are opening your account you will be selecting utility services that will be billed to you. If you are closing an account you will be billed for services until the account is properly closed with an effective date, meter reading and forwarding address.
For your account and bill to be as accurate as possible, complete all the required sections and provide as much additional information as possible, whether you use this application or call the Customer Service Center to close or open an account.
Opening or closing?
• If you are moving out of Seattle, close your account.
• If you have just moved to Seattle, open a new account.
• If you are moving to another location in Seattle, close your current account and open a new one.
