Paper Billing
Residential customers are billed every other month (bi-monthly). Paper bills can be mailed to the service address or an alternate mailing address.
If your account is in danger of being shut off
Please call a customer service agent and make your payment at (206) 684-3000, Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (no fee).
Paper bill customers can:
- Sign up for recurring payments (ACH) from your checking account.
- Make single online payments. Your account number and mailing ZIP code are required for access.
- There are no additional fees for payments.
- Use Visa and Master Card or your personal checking account and bank routing number.
- Payments made after 5:30 p.m. on business days are usually posted to the utility account within 3 business days. Business days exclude weekends and City of Seattle holidays.
- Secure Socket Layers (SSL) and encryption ensure your connection and information is secure.
- Pay by phone (no fee).
- 24 hour automated access- Enter your payment information privately (credit card only) over the phone by calling 1 (866) 350-7637.
- Speak to a customer service agent and make your payment by calling (206) 684-3000. Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

What’s the difference between paperless billing and paper billing?
Paper Billing
- Residential customers are billed every other month (bi-monthly).
- Paper bills can be mailed to the service address or an alternate mailing address.
- Receive paper newsletters from the Utilities.
- You can pay by mail, in person, make a one-time payment online or use the automated payment line: 1 (866) 350-7637.
Paperless Billing
Reduce your paper consumption - sign up for paperless billing. You’ll need your utility account and zip code.
Paperless customers have the most options!
- Residential customers are billed every other month (bi-monthly).
- Enroll in both Seattle Public Utilities and Seattle City Light on the same page.
- Pay with your Visa, Master Card or checking account.
- Schedule a single payment or create automatic recurring payments.
- Store your payment method securely and save time.
- Continue using the City’s recurring payment plan (ACH) if you are already enrolled. (Be careful not to add a payment rule within Paperless Billing unless you cancel the City program first!)
- Receive email notifications and confirmations for bills and payments.
- Receive paperless newsletters from the Utilities.
- Store and view bills.
- View payment history.
- View online payment status and method of payment.
