Uncontained liquids are not allowed in the garbage. Two firms accept residential used cooking oil for recycle: General Biodiesel (206) 932-1600 and Standard Biodiesel (206) 388-3869. Please call them for information on their residential cooking oil drop-off sites.
To dispose of used cooking oil in your curbside pickup, you may:
Put in sealed containers and place in the trash.
Mix the oil with an absorbent such as kitty litter or dirt to make the oil solid, and place in the trash.
If you have a large amount, do this over several collection days. Do not bring it to the Seattle or King County transfer stations for disposal.
Leftover grease, such as bacon grease, should always be contained or absorbed and placed in your trash.
