Seattle Public Utilities Ray Hoffman, Director
Food containers, cups, and plates clearly marked as "Cedar Grove Compostable" and which are brown or have a brown identifying stripe may go in your curbside food and yard waste cart. Plain, uncoated paper plates and bowls such as Chinet brand are also accepted. Only these types of products are acceptable in the curbside food and yard cart.
If in doubt, throw it in the garbage. Do not recycle plastic-like compostable food service products (plastics labeled with a #7 PLA symbol). Such products are also not recommended for backyard composting.
