Beds and Furniture

Find another use

If your bed or furniture is in good, usable condition, you may be able to sell, exchange or donate it. Look in the Yellow Pages under used furniture, see “Links to other sites” below, or check our ideas for Reduce, Reuse & Recycle.

Bulky item collection

Have your bed or piece of furniture picked up from your home for a fee with a bulky item collection. If you live in an apartment or condo, talk to your building manager about arranging and paying for a bulky item pickup.

Items must be smaller than 8 feet long and 4 feet in diameter, and less than 300 pounds.

Cover absorbent pieces, such as sofas and beds, with plastic if it is raining.

Take it to a Recycling and Disposal Station

The Recycling & Disposal Stations have a program to salvage reusable items that would otherwise end up in the landfill.

Clean, unpainted wood beds and furniture can be recycled as clean wood. Other large furniture is accepted for disposal for a fee
