Solid Waste Management Plan
The Solid Waste Management Plan updates the City of Seattle’s programs and services to prevent waste, increase recycling and composting, and improve services. The plan is currently being updated and the draft chapters are listed below.
Solid Waste Management Plan – 2011 Revision – Preliminary Draft
The March 2012 Preliminary Draft replaces the August 2011 Preview Draft. The Preliminary Draft is currently under review by the Washington Department of Ecology. Hardcopies are also available at the Seattle Public Library, Downtown Branch. Appendix C contains a summary of the changes between the two drafts. Look below under “Stakeholder Feedback” for more detail.
Environmental Checklist
We’ve also prepared an Environmental Checklist (pdf) , pursuant to the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA). SPU’s SEPA Responsible Official reviewed the Checklist, determined there will be no probable significant adverse impacts on the environment caused by adoption and approval of the 2011 Plan, and made a Determination of Non-significance (DNS) (pdf). This means an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is not required. The DNS was published on June 7, 2012, and there is a two week public comment period. Direct any comments on the Environmental Checklist or DNS to Betty Meyer.
