Street Restoration
The water service customer is responsible for street and sidewalk restoration related to new water service installations and/or retirement of existing water services. The customer will need to decide who will perform the restoration, either the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) or a private contractor. For restoration work done by an approved contractor, a separate restoration permit is required to perform this work in the city right-of-way.
Customers are responsible for the full cost of street right-of-way restoration, which may include:
- Paving
- Curb and gutter
- Sidewalks
- Wheelchair ramps
The specific restoration requirements which apply are determined by the Street and Sidewalk Opening and Restoration Director’s Rule (5-2009).
