SPU completed installation of a new pipe to manage stormwater and sewage in the South Park neighborhood.
Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) has installed a new pipe and drainage structures to increase capacity for stormwater and sewage, and reduce flooding in the South Park neighborhood. The new pipe runs under 14th Avenue S, between S Concord and S Donovan streets, and west under S Donovan Street to 12th Avenue S. SPU also installed street improvements along the south side of S Concord Street.
This project was supported in part with funding from the King County Flood Control District.
Construction and landscape restoration for this project were completed in 2016.
Added pipe capacity will help relieve chronic sewage backups in homes and businesses and reduce generalized flooding in the area of 14th Avenue South and South Concord Street.
