Natural Drainage Systems Partnering
SPU’s Integrated Plan requires natural drainage systems within three Seattle creek basins: Longfellow Creek, Pipers Creek, and Thornton Creek. SPU is partnering with city departments, community organizations, and residents to identify technically feasible locations and build projects along residential streets to achieve multiple benefits or City goals. Active projects include:
- Longfellow Creek (southwest Seattle)
- SDOT and SPU’s NE 30th Avenue Project
- Thornton Creek (northeast Seattle)
Swale on Yale (Capitol Hill water quality project)
SPU is working with Cascade neighborhood businesses and property owners to construct a stormwater treatment system on four blocks on Yale Avenue North and Pontius Avenue North.
