The Walsh Lake Drainage Restoration project reconnected the natural hydrologic pattern of Walsh Lake and the Rock Creek systems. The systems were disconnected in the early 20th century by construction of a ditch that diverted water from the Walsh Lake basin to the Cedar River below the drinking water intake in an effort to protect drinking water.
