Adopt-A-Drain
Maintaining Storm Drains
Join volunteers across the city who are maintaining storm drains, a critical part of our utility infrastructure.
Participants commit to removing leaves from their local storm drain. By joining the Adopt-A-Drain program you help:
- Prevent flooding in your neighborhood by keeping drains free of debris.
- Keep pollutants from entering streams, creeks and Puget Sound, which protects fish and other wildlife.
- Assist drainage crews maintaining the city's thousands of storm drains, expecially during fall months when rain increases and falling leaves block drains.
- Clear your drain only if it is safe. If the drain is still clogged after you’ve removed the debris, call our drainage problem hotline at (206) 386-1800 to report it.
