We’ve redesigned our Development Services approach to make it easier for building developers to manage and deliver their construction projects. As part of the redesign, an interim group—the Development Services Advisory Panel —meets quarterly to help us:

  • evaluate redesign concepts
  • provide feedback on proposed changes
  • test new business processes
  • provide input so we can improve current processes

Building a Dynamic and Sustainable Seattle

SPU’s Development Services work contributes to a broader City-wide vision to “build a dynamic and sustainable Seattle.” To streamline SPU processes and help developers succeed while meeting SPU needs, our principles for the redesign will focus on seven areas of change:

  1. Customer orientation
  2. Consolidation of functions
  3. Continuous improvement of processes
  4. Cross training of staff
  5. Clearer requirements
  6. Controlled and predictable costs
  7. Cooperative alignment of SPU work with City-wide permitting
