Organics Processing – 2016 Request for Proposals (RFP)

The City of Seattle will be requesting proposals for processing organic materials produced by City residential, commercial and self-haul customers. Qualifying proposals will include processing up to 50% of the organic materials collected by the City’s contractors. This will not include the yard/foodwaste currently being composted under the City’s existing composting contract with Lenz Enterprises nor open market commercial organics. The City may award one or multiple processing contracts. New processing services would cover July 2017 until March 2020 with the potential for two 2-year extensions. The proposal request will be posted on City Ebid Exchange on December 20, 2016

Long Haul Disposal Contract

Seattle contracts with Washington Waste Systems for the transportation and disposal of the City's solid waste. The waste is transported by rail to the Columbia Ridge Landfill and Recycling Center in Gilliam County, Oregon.
