Cedar River Watershed
The Cedar River Municipal Watershed is carefully managed to supply clean drinking water to 1.4 million people in the greater Seattle area. The watershed covers 90,638 acres and is owned by the City of Seattle. Come explore and learn about this remarkable rain-soaked landscape by visiting the Cedar River Watershed Education Center or attending a tour.
Watershed Biodiversity
The Cedar River Watershed is host to a rich biological diversity of plants, animals, and habitats. Learn more about the watershed's biodiversity and how it is being protected and restored by the City under its Habitat Conservation Plan.
Watershed activities and additional information
- • 2008 Cedar River Salmon Journey. Join volunteer naturalists at four sites along the Cedar River to see spawning salmon. Learn about the epic journey that takes place every fall on the Cedar River. Viewing days are October 11, 18, 19, 25, 26 and Saturday November 1. Volunteers will be present from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. - • Spring 2009 school programs registration began 8:00 AM, Monday, January 5. For information call our Watershed Program Information line at (206) 233-1515 to discuss spring dates and programs. (Be advised Fall 2008 programs are full but we have active a wait list.)
