Plants & Fungi
The many species of plants, lichen, and fungi found in the watershed reflect:
- • its many varied habitats
- • the historic and current climates of the Pacific Northwest
- • the effects of natural and human disturbance
To date, there have been few systematic inventories of plants, lichens, and fungi of the watershed. Although most of the vegetation is composed of species that occur throughout the Pacific Northwest, we have limited information about less common species and their distribution. Recent and ongoing surveys of flowering plants, lichens, mosses, and liverworts are helping to fill this gap in information about the watershed’s biodiversity.
