Bank Stabilization

Bank stabilization treatments are typically associated with sites where roads have been constructed in riparian zones and are within or near the active channel.  In these instances, restoration options may include road decommissioning, road realignment, and/or bio-engineering solutions, which are designed to improve channel stability and help maintain or enhance habitat features. 

Where bank stability is chronic and our analysis suggests that active restoration measures are appropriate, treatment options include in-stream LWD placement, reduction of upstream sediment sources, and changes in riparian conditions.
