Landsburg Dam Fish Ladder
The Landsburg Diversion Dam on the Cedar River blocked fish passage into the upper watershed from 1901 until 2003. The dam was built to provide a reliable supply of water to the City of Seattle and surrounding communities. The construction of Landsburg fish passage facilities was completed in 2003, providing safe passage for fish past Landsburg Dam and the aqueduct crossing below the dam. These improvements restored historic access to 17 miles of habitat for the first time in about a century.
The numbers of fish (Chinook and coho salmon, and steelhead trout) passing above the dam have steadily increased each year since construction of the passage facilities in 2003.
