Resources to Save Salmon

The City of Seattle is working with businesses, landowners, citizens and other governments throughout Washington to save Chinook salmon. Listed below are a few of the many Web sites where you can find information about what other organizations are doing to help.

These underwater eel grass beds provide critical habitat to salmon.


City of Seattle Departments
  • Seattle Department of Planning and Development (DPD) - responsible for regulating land use and construction within the City of Seattle.

  • Seattle Parks and Recreation (Parks) - one of the largest landowners in the city, and involves and informs the public through environmental education programs.

  • Seattle City Light (SCL) - supplies power throughout Seattle and surrounding areas primarily from hydropower facilities located in the Skagit, Tolt and Pend Oreille watersheds.

  • Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) - provides clean, fresh drinking water to Seattle and surrounding areas, and provides solid waste, drainage and sewer facilities within the City of Seattle.

  • Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) - manages the roads and transportation infrastructure within Seattle.
