March 2009 – Stakeholder Outreach
Stakeholder interviews were conducted with community and business organizations in the Madison Valley area. The interviews were part of a comprehensive public involvement and outreach program for Phase 2. The purposes of the interviews were to:
- Inform development of future public participation and outreach activities related to Phase 2
- Extend the project stakeholder list and knowledge about stakeholders, and determine if others want to be involved in the process
- Share information about Phase 2 and learn about community issues and concerns
Stakeholder interview candidates were identified based on their proximity to the project area and the potential they would be affected by the project. Some have participated in Phase 1 of the Madison Valley Stormwater Project. Ten groups were invited to participate in the interviews. Stakeholders interviewed represented the following organizations:
- Greater Madison Valley Community Council
- Madison Valley Merchants Association
- Madison Park Community Council
- Madison Park Business Association
- Miller Park Neighborhood Association
- Montlake Community Club
- Pony Baseball/Softball
- City People’s Garden Store and Landscape
A representative of SPU and a member of the consultant public involvement team attended each interview. Most interviews were conducted in person, although some were conducted over the phone to accommodate stakeholder’s schedules.
