Description:
This magnolia relative is a fast-growing deciduous tree that has distinctively shaped leaves and subtle but lovely, pale yellow flowers in late spring to early summer. It tends to grow tall and loves full sun. The foliage turns golden yellow in fall.

Leaves:
4-lobed, pale to medium green leaves with distinct shape that looks like someone bit the tip off. They turn golden yellow in the fall.
Flowers:
Subtle, upright blossoms are greenish-yellow with orange inner markings and reminiscent of tulips. Tree blooms around May and June after the leaves have emerged.
Fruit:
Cone-like aggregate of winged seeds mature over the summer and provide food for wildlife.
Preferred Site Conditions:
Prefers moist well drained soils in full sun.
Potential Problems:
Susceptible to aphids although they do not weaken the tree.
