Tree Ordinance and Street Tree Manual Standards and Specifications

The Seattle Department of Transportation’s Urban Forestry Section’s update to the Street Tree Ordinance, which was last revised in February of 1961 (Ordinance #90047).  It was passed by Full Council: April 29, 2013 as Council Bill Number 117745 – Ordinance Number 124166. This document was drafted with input from an advisory panel consisting of citizens, commercial arborists and city staff from several departments. The intent of the ordinance update is to provide greater protection to street trees, and to codify current policies and procedures.

The public comment period for the Proposed SDOT DR 3-2014 Street Tree Manual has closed.  SDOT is currently reviewing the comments received and expects to release the final document before the end of November
