Seattle Summer Parkways

This is Seattle Summer Parkways

Summer Parkways are free, all-ages events that open up the city's largest public space - our streets - for you, your family, friends and neighbors to come out and safely bike, walk, run, skate, skip, hop, rock and roll through miles of open roadways.  Enjoy fun outdoor activities and healthy active transportation; discover cool local businesses, delicious restaurants and cafes. Explore our city’s unique neighborhoods from a new perspective and celebrate the spirit & personality of some of Seattle's amazing local communities.  Biking and walking routes are complimented by vendors, activities, live music, and events along the way as well as in nearby parks, hosted by Seattle Neighborhood Greenways, Seattle Parks and Recreation, Cascade Bicycle Club and many other organizations.

Our second year of Seattle Summer Parkways in 2016 featured three events, in West Seattle, Ballard, and Rainier Valley.  Up to 10,000 attendees enjoyed these events, a number that we hope grows with each year of the program.  News about the events was spread through fliers, signs, local news and blogs, social media, and word of mouth -- as well as many people who just came across it! Seattle Summer Parkways gives residents the chance to check out routes that link together city parks, community centers, and other community spaces.

Stay tuned for information on Summer Parkways 2017 and our wrap-up report for 2016.  In the meantime, you can Sign up for our Newsletter to make sure you get our news next year and check out the video below from StreetFilms to learn more about open streets and events like Summer Parkways around the country and around the world.
