Rainier Valley Summer Streets

Saturday, August 16, 2014
1:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Join us for the annual Heritage Parade from Noon – 1:30 PM, then come play with us at Summer Streets. We’ll open up Rainier Ave S (from S Alaska to S Brandon St) to people on foot and bike!

PS – Join Bike Works and Cascade Bicycle Club to lead the parade with bikes! Meet at 10:30 AM in the New Bethel Church Parking Lot across from the Rainier Valley Chamber of Commerce at 42nd and Rainier Ave S.  They’ll have a bike decoration station available so you can spruce up your ride while we wait for the parade to start. Contact info@bikeworks.org for more details.

Getting to Rainier Valley Summer Streets

Walk and bike: we encourage people to walk, bike, roll, and stroll to Summer Streets, whenever possible.

Bus: please note Metro Route 7 will be re-routed during the event (from about 10 AM – 7 PM). Plan your trip with Metro’s Trip Planner or Google Maps Transit

Car: if you need to drive, remember that no vehicles and no parking will be allowed on Rainier Ave S from S Brandon to S Alaska streets. Look for parking on the side streets and please be mindful of driveways and no parking areas. Vehicles will be allowed to travel west on Alaska, and the northbound detour begins at S Orcas St.

Rainier Valley Culture Fest Weekend

Rainier Valley is full of great events the weekend of August 16-17.  After you enjoy Summer Streets, check out the Othello Park International Music and Arts Festival on Sunday, August 17 – both are part of the Rainier Valley Culture Fest Weekend

In celebration of the Rainier Valley Heritage Parade and Summer Streets, our friends at Rainier Valley Greenways are launching a GoRVGreenway.com blast, complete with fun prizes. Win a bike helmet, French press, and swim tickets!
