Tell your neighbors, tell your friends! Sunday, May 19 is a party along Alki! This free event opens the city's largest public space - its streets - so people can walk, bike, roll, run, skip and shop - without having to watch out for cars! Participate in the West Seattle 5K Run/Walk in the morning, sponsored by West Seattle High School PTSA. The race starts at 9:20 a.m. Pre-registration is suggested. Stay for the party starting at 11 a.m.

What a great time it is going to be. The Alki Beach Creeps are joining forces with us to bring the largest costumed bike parade in West Seattle’s 111 year history. Skate Like a Girl is planning skateboard workshops; Hollow Earth Radio will be spinning tunes in-between live music; Coastal Boutique will have a t-shirt tye-dyeing station; Detective Cookie will have chess games for the kids; Alki Bike and Board will be repairing bikes; and the Alki Art Fair—West Seattle’s premier art and music showcase—is inviting local artists to join the fun.

2013 participants: Alki Arts • Alki Beach Creeps Bicycle Club • Alki Bike and Board •  Alki Community Council Emergency Communication Hub • Alki Kayak Tours and Mountain to Sound Outfitters • Alki Tae Kwon Do •  American Income • Bubbleman •  Life Breathe Deep • Seattle Cascade Bike Club • Coastal Boutique • CoolMom • Crohns and Colitis Foundation • Elliot Bay Seawall Project • Feet First • Flowers of Lesotho • Lifelong Recreation Program • Hollow Earth Radio •  Maryhill Ratz • Mighty Tiny Band • Miss America Plus • Nana Yesman African Crafts • Originals by KT •  PCC Natural Market • Roxbury Spine and Wellness Clinic • Sarey Savy • Seattle Department of Transportation • Seattle Fire Department • Seattle Parks and Recreation •  Seattle Police Department • Seal Sitters • Skate Church • Skate Like a Girl • Sparkfit • Suzies Toys • ThisThat • West Seattle Spokespeople • West Seattle Bike Connections • West Seattle Blockwatch Captains Network •  West Seattle Blog • West Seattle Democratic Women •  Whale Trail •  Woodland Park Zoo

Volunteer

Summer Streets are not possible without volunteers! Be a ‘promotion organizer’ building buzz before events, a ‘creative organizer’ of event activities like bike parades and interactive art, or volunteer the day of helping hundreds of Seattleites enjoy Summer Streets. Email Summer.Streets@Seattle.gov and let us know how you can help.
