Monthly Construction Guide

Fairview/Valley Detour

Streetcar construction is underway. In May 2006, the City of Seattle gave Stacy & Witbeck, the Streetcar's general contractor/construction manager, the notice to proceed with building Seattle a modern streetcar that will connect South Lake Union, Denny Triangle and the Downtown Retail Core.

In advance of streetcar operations the City of Seattle and it's contractor will relocate utilities, install track, make roadway improvements, upgrade traffic signals, build a maintenance facility and test streetcar vehicles. By the end of 2007, the Seattle Streetcar will be operational and connecting over 350,000 riders annually to the places they live, work and socialize.

During Streetcar construction the Project team will make every effort to work with the community to minimize construction impacts to local businesses and residents.

For more information or to schedule a meeting please contact Josh Stepherson, Streetcar Community Liaison, at (206) 684-3136.
