The First Hill/Broadway Corridor Analysis
Sound Transit's preferred North Link route, identified by the Sound Transit Board in May 2004, included a First Hill light rail station. However, due to technical concerns regarding geology and construction risks, in July 2005, the Board eliminated the station from the preferred North Link route.
At the Board's direction, Sound Transit staff were asked to explore a streetcar line and bus transit improvements for the First Hill urban center. A streetcar line in the Jackson/Broadway Corridor would connect First Hill with Sounder commuter rail, Link light rail and Regional Express bus service at the International District in downtown Seattle and the future Capitol Hill Link light rail station.
Sound Transit's analysis will be released in the summer of 2006.
