Project Update – September 29, 2010
SDOT and its contractor are making street improvements on 10th Avenue E that includes a curb-to-curb roadway reconstruction. This project will be substantially complete by LATE OCTOBER.
Week of September 27
WEEKDAY WORK - on the east from E Miller St to E Lynn St:
- Remove and replace segments of the sidewalk in poor condition
- Curb ramp installation
- New driveways
WEEKEND WORK (October 2 & 3): on the east side of 10th Avenue E from the from E Lynn Street through the intersection of E Boston Street
- Remove and replace concrete panels
Note: 10th Avenue E will be CLOSED from E Boston Street to E Lynn Street to northbound traffic (except transit) from 7:00 a.m. Saturday to noon Sunday.
Week of October 4
On the east side of 10th Avenue E near E Boston Street:
- Sidewalk restoration
- Curb ramp installation
- New driveways
- Weather permitting, crews will apply street markings
Week of October 11
Miscellaneous work including;
- Sidewalk & street restoration
- Side street paving
- Street markings
- In addition, some sidewalk removal and replacement will take place along E Roanoke Street

Two Week Look Ahead Schedule
Week of September 13th thru 19th
During the week of September 13-19 crews will remove and replace segments of the sidewalk and driveways that are in poor condition, and install new curb ramps on the east from the SR 520 overpass to E Miller Street. Crews will also be upgrading storm drainage at the southeast corner of E Lynn Street.
Planned work hours: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday
During the weekend the contractor will remove and replace concrete panels on the east side of 10th Avenue E between the intersection of E Lynn and E Boston streets. Storm drains will also be installed at the southeast corner of E Miller Street.
Planned weekend work hours: 7:00 a.m. Saturday - Sunday afternoon Note: 10th Avenue E will be CLOSED from E Boston Street to E Roanoke Street to northbound traffic, except transit, from 7:00 a.m. Saturday to noon Sunday.
Week of September 20th thru 26th
Crews will remove and replace segments of the sidewalk and driveways that are in poor condition, and install new curb ramps on the east from the intersection of E Lynn and E Boston streets.

Project Update – August 26, 2010
Weekend Construction – August 28th & 29th
Northbound traffic will be detoured on 10 th Ave E
The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) and its contractor are making street improvements on 10 th Avenue E this weekend. Planned work and the anticipated schedule are as follows:
The contractor will build a concrete lane on 10 th Avenue E between the E Miller Street and E Boston Street.
Crews will start at 7:00 a.m., Saturday. At 8:00 a.m., Saturday crews will start the demo (concrete breaking) and removal of the existing street. The contractor anticipates substantially completing this work by Sunday evening.
Weekend Street Closures and Restrictions
10th Avenue E: E Boston Street to E Roanoke Street
- CLOSED to northbound traffic – except transit
- One southbound lane open
Note a substantial detour will be in place: Vehicles heading north will be detoured at the north end of the Broadway commercial district and directed to travel E Roy Street to Belmont Avenue E to Lakeview Boulevard E to Boylston Avenue E to E Roanoke Street.
E Boston St: Broadway Avenue E to Federal Avenue E
- Closed to through traffic at 10 th Avenue E
- Westbound traffic must take a left (south) at 10 th Avenue E
- Local access only between 10 th Avenue E and Broadway Avenue E
These traffic control measures will be in place 7:00 a.m., Saturday to Sunday evening.
Detour routes will be clearly posted. Police officers will be on site to keep traffic moving. Pedestrian access to all businesses and residences will be maintained. Local vehicle access will be maintained.
Local businesses are open during construction and the community is encouraged to stop and shop.
PROJECT UPDATE – August 5, 2010
TWO WEEK LOOK AHEAD
Planned 10th Ave E Construction: August 4 – 18
SDOT and its contractor are making street improvements on 10th Ave E that include a curb-to-curb roadway reconstruction.
In order to allow third party utility providers time to replace some existing services prior to building a new concrete street, the project schedule has been adjusted. Planned construction from August 4 – 18:
Potholing & Gas Service Upgrades
Puget Sound Energy (PSE) will pothole existing services along 10th Ave E. Based on their findings some or all of the services will be replaced. Advanced notice of any service interruptions to area businesses and residents will be provided by PSE.
Planned work hours: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., August 5th – 8th
Concrete Lane – west side of street
Starting Saturday, August 14th crews will remove and replace the existing pavement on the west side of 10th Ave between the SR 520 overpass and approximately 2349 10th Ave E.
Planned work hours: 7:00 a.m. Saturday, 8/14 to Sunday morning, 8/15. Planned 8:00 a.m. start time for concrete breaking.
Between 7:00 a.m., Saturday 8/14 and Sunday morning 10th Ave E will be CLOSED to northbound traffic from E Boston St to E Roanoke St.
*DRIVEWAY RESTRICTIONS - Starting at 7:00 a.m., Saturday, 8/14 driveway access will be restricted on the west side of 10th Ave E between 2349 10th Ave E and the SR 520 overpass for six (6) days. Free 10-day RPZ passes are available if needed. Call Josh for additional information.
Sidewalk, curb ramp and driveway replacement
During the week of 8/9 crews will start replacing segments of the sidewalk that are in poor condition, installing new curb ramps and building new driveways on the west side of 10th Ave E between 2349 10th Ave E and the SR 520 overpass.
