Spokane Street Viaduct Widening Project

General Guide to Street and Lane Closure Restrictions

The contractor's work schedule will be restricted as follows in order to minimize the impacts to the flow of traffic during peak hours and to local businesses.

Spokane Street Viaduct shall be open to two lanes each way at all times.

S Spokane St from the east edge of E Marginal Way S to the west edge of 6th Avenue S shall be maintained westbound for local access at all times. Eastbound shall be maintained for two through lanes.

S Spokane St east of 6th Avenue S shall be maintained for local access at all times.

E Marginal Way S (west roadway) shall be maintained at full width (all lanes) during all S Spokane St detours from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. It may be reduced to one lane each way at all other times.

E Marginal Way S (east roadway) may be reduced to one lane northbound.

1st Avenue S southbound shall be open to full width (all lanes) from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. It may be reduced to two lanes at all other times.

1st Avenue S northbound shall be open to full width (all lanes) 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. It may be reduced to two lanes at all other times.

4th Avenue S southbound shall be open to full width (all lanes) 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. It may be reduced to one lane at all other times.

4th Avenue S northbound shall be open to full width (all lanes) 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday. It may be reduced to two lanes 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. It may be reduced to one lane at all other times.

5th Avenue S (Metro Bus Way) shall maintain local access at all times.

6th Avenue S shall be maintained at full width (all lanes) during all S Spokane St detours, and from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. It may be reduced to one lane each way at all other times.

Special events: All streets listed above, except westbound lower S Spokane St, shall be open to full width (all lanes) from 2 hours before to 2 hours after an event of expected attendance greater than 10,000 at Safeco Field, Stadium Exhibition Center, or other events within Pioneer Square, the International District, the SODO District or the Central Business District.
