Safe Routes to School: John Rogers Elementary
Helping kids get to school safely

Last updated: July 20, 2017

What's happening now?

NE 110th St is temporary closed between 39th Ave NE and 40th Ave NE for crews to work on the curb, gutter, and roadway in this narrow corridor. Crews will maintain access for local residents during the closure, but through traffic is detoured to NE 125th St between 39th Ave NE and 40th Ave NE during this work. Crews expect to pave NE 110th St on July 24 and 25, after which they will reopen the closure to through-traffic.

Following completion of the detour, neighbors should expect continued traffic restrictions, including flaggers to maintain two-way traffic on NE 110th St.

Crews began construction on June 27, 2017, and we expect the work to last 3-4 months. We'll work to reduce the impacts as much as possible. We're committed to keeping the community informed and will share project updates via email.

Project overview

This Safe Routes to School project will make the street safer and easier for kids to walk and bike to school along NE 110th St near John Rogers Elementary.

This project is part of Seattle's Vision Zero to end traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2030 through design, education, and enforcement.

Schedule

Construction began on Tuesday, June 27, and is expected to last approximately 3-4 months. Crews will work to reduce impacts to school traffic as much as possible by finishing most major activities before school resumes in September, weather permitting.

Funding

The Safe Routes to School program is funding project design as well as the education and encouragement programs. Project construction is funded by the 9-year Levy to Move Seattle, approved by voters in 2015.
