Home Zone Program

The Home Zone Program is a 2019 pilot that uses traffic calming measures to limit and slow traffic on adjacent residential streets within a grid of arterial streets, creating zones of people-centered areas that prioritizes pedestrian safety and community use of the right-of-way. In cooperation with community groups, we’ll develop the parameters of the program and implement two Home Zones in 2019 using $350,000 of allocated funds with the following three goals in mind:

  1. Make Seattle more walkable
  2. Integrate with other efforts (cost-effectice pathways, traffic calming, Your Voice Your Choice, Neighborhood Matching Fund, Neighborhood Greenways, Safe Routes to School)
  3. Focus on rapid implementation with low cost solutions
